Flying High Again
Last year's most popular Unzipped cover model, Jason Hawke, leaves no stone unturned in our intimate chat with one of adult entertainment's sexiest superstars.

Jason Hawke is nice. So nice and polite, it's almost unbelievable. Not that most porn stars aren't, but often you get the feeling that their niceness is a cover for something else. Jason Hawke, then, is nice in the genuine way even your mom or minister would love -- if they hung out with porn stars. And who knows? Maybe they do.

Here's how I know: This past summer I worked as a production assistant on Big Blue Productions' latest video, Straight Jocks Confess. Midway through a scene in which Tony Valentino tops Jason, director Blue Blake called "Cut" to give Tony a break. It was time to film Jason's reaction shots (What, you think there are three cameras going at once?). And my job? Stand behind Jason's lubed-up ass, grab it, and simulate fucking actions so everything looked real. Yes, really. People get paid to do that. Jason's response to this unorthodox situation? He just smiled, kept working and thanked me when I finished pushing him around. See?

Unzipped: OK, Jason, a brief career history...

Well, I'm 24 now. I started doing porn at 21.

And you're relatively new to the United States.

Yes, I'm from a little town near Hamburg, Germany.

But your accent is really hard to pin down. All someone can tell from talking to you is that you're from somewhere else, but it's hard to say where. Like those Mentos commercials. So what inspired you to take off your clothes for a camera?

Well, like most porn performers, I discovered I was an exhibitionist. But the first time I ever thought about doing porn was after watching Boogie Nights.

See now, that's a bold statement. Most people would watch that movie and probably think, "OK, I've changed my mind about wanting to be a porn star." But unlike Marky Mark's character, porn's been good to you. You met your boyfriend, Jeremy Jordan, on a shoot, right?

Yeah, Jeremy and I just had our three-year anniversary a couple of months ago. We met on a Falcon shoot in Santa Rosa, Calif., for a movie called The Violation, and that was actually the first time we had sex!

An awesome story to tell your grand-children! Yep, kids, Grandpa Jason and Grandpa Jeremy fell in love during an orgy scene!

[Laughs] And it was totally love at first sight! Of course, everybody on the set didn't give us a chance in hell. I guess we proved 'em wrong.

Three years is nothing to sneeze at. Love is a good thing.

And it's definitely not easy to maintain a healthy relationship in this industry, but it's all about being honest and respecting each other. A lot of guys get into relationships that are based on lies from day one, which is pretty pathetic because all they're doing is lying to themselves. But some people have to learn the hard way.

So is there a video that you're most proud of? Is there one you wish would be destroyed?

My favorite scene is, of course, that first scene with Jeremy in The Violation. And there are always scenes that are better than others, but so far, I have to say that I've never had a really, really bad scene -- just a lot of really, really boring ones.

Because?

Because there are a lot of guys in this industry who have no clue how to have good sex. Which is kinda funny, since that's the job they get paid for! [Laughs]

OK, so that day we were shooting Straight Jocks Confess was the first time a dirctor ever asked me to stand behind a bottom and shake him to get a reaction shot for the camera -- you know, to make it seem like the top was still fucking you. I must admit I was a little nervous about doing that. I didn't want to shake you too hard.

Well it takes a lot to shake me "too hard." Did you have a good time?

Of course.

Good. I know I did!

Have any of your old friends or family seen your work?

Not that I know of. And if they have, I don't even want to know about it! [Laughs]

OK, young man. Give me your five-year plan and we'll wrap this up.

I want to stay in the industry for as long as I can. Because in spite of the bullshit, it's a pretty good industry to be in, as long as you're smart and you don't sell yourself cheap. I always say that I've met the most unprofessional and sleaziest people in the industry, but I've also met some of my best ...
